Food Truck

Made: December 2015
Tools used: Unity 5, Visual Studios, C#
Group Size: Solo project

For the final project in my Game Engine Scripting course, I had to make a wave-based FPS in Unity where the player could only rotate, but not physically move. So waves of enemies moved towards the player's stationary position while the player used a shooting mechanic to hold them off. I was also required to create winning and losing conditions with UI. With these basic guidelines, I had room for creative design which could make for an unique experience. Since the player couldn't move, I decided to make the user play as a food truck server, who had to constantly cycle through three types of food (ammo) and serve to the correct customers out of windows from a food truck.

I designed the interior of the truck to challenge the player, so he/she would be constantly rotating, cycling through food types, and shooting food out of the windows to correct customers. I implemented a wave system that increased in difficulty as the player cleared each wave, putting the player's reflexes to the test. Once the player hit a customer with the correct food, the customer would turn green and walk away. However, feed them the wrong food and the customer will become angrier and his speed will increase. Once the truck's health reaches zero, either by too many customers hitting it or by wasting food (shooting the floor or anything else that isn't a customer), the truck would explode sending the player flying into the sky. This resulted in a fail state and restarted the player back to day 1.
